A home massage saves you the trip to a spa, but the room becomes part of the appointment. Agree on the setup with the provider before moving furniture or laying out towels.

What should you prepare?

Ask whether the practitioner brings a table or mat or expects you to supply a surface. Then confirm the space needed around it. Do not buy equipment based on a generic service description.

  • Clear the agreed working space and a route from the entrance.
  • Have the towels or coverings you agreed to supply ready.
  • Ask how oils or other products will be kept off furniture and flooring.
  • Choose a place to change and store your belongings.

If the requested setup will not work in your home, tell the provider before the appointment. A centre visit may be more practical than trying to improvise a cramped space.

Condo entrances, parking and lifts

Check your building’s visitor process. Confirm the block, entrance and meeting point with the provider, particularly where a development has several towers. Find out whether you must register the visitor or meet them downstairs.

Discuss parking with the provider as part of the quote. If the building has no visitor parking, explain that early so neither side plans around a space that is not available.

Sharing your home during the session

Let housemates know which room you will use and when you need privacy. Arrange pet care and other interruptions in advance. If you need to stay reachable, tell the practitioner rather than assuming the session must be silent.

For two people, ask whether the appointments are simultaneous or one after the other. Two simultaneous sessions need an agreed setup for each person; a “couples” label does not explain the space, staffing or timing.

After the session

Agree beforehand who packs the equipment and deals with used linens. Keep a little time before your next commitment so you are not trying to leave while the practitioner is still clearing the space.
